제10장 비교 (1)

형용사와 부사의 비교 변화에는 원급, 비교급, 최상급이 있다.

비교급과 최상급에는 규칙 변화와 불규칙 변화가 있으며,

동등비교는 (as + 원급 + as)로 나타낸다.

 

1. 규칙변화: 원급에 -er, -est.를 붙이는 것과 앞에 more, most.를 붙이는 것이 있다.
This box is larger than that one.
My mother gets up earlier than my father.
This is the tallest girl in our class.
Is this book more interesting than that?
That is the most beautiful flower in my garden.

 

2. 불규칙 변화: 비교급, 최상급이 원급과 전혀 다른 형태를 가진다.
Which do you like better, tea or coffee? (well.의 비교급)
This is the worst of all. (bad.의 최상급)

3. 동등비교: (as + 원급 + as)로 표현한다.
Tom is as old as my little brother. (...만큼 -하다)
She doesn't get up as early as her sister. (...만큼 -하지 않다)

(1) (단모음 + 자음)으로 끝나는 말의 최상급, (3) good.은 불규칙 변화,

(4),(5) -ous, -ful.로 끝나는 말은 more, most.로 비교한다.

 

2. 괄호 안의 어구를 보충하여 다음 문장을 다시 쓰시오.
(1) The woman is busy. (than I) -> (__)
(2) Mike can ski well. (of the five) -> (__)
(3) Are you happy? (as your sister) -> (__)
(4) He walks very slowly. (than Mary) -> (__)
  

보충학습: 

(1) (자음 + y)로 끝나면 y를 i로 고치고 -er, -est.를 붙인다, 

(2) 부사의 최상급에서는 the.를 생략할 수 있다, (3) 동등비교, (4) 비교급은 much.로 강조한다.

3. 다음 괄호 안에서 알맞은 것을 고르시오.  

(1) Mi-ok is the tallest (of, in) all the girls in her class.

(3) My house is as (big, bigger, the biggest) as Tom's.

보충학습: 

(1),(4) ...중에서 가장 -하다, (2) than (...보다)가 있음에 유의한다, 

(3) 동등비교, (5) 베티는 너보다 두 배 많은 책을 가지고 있다.

 

4. 두 문장이 비슷한 뜻이 되도록 빈 칸에 알맞은 말을 쓰시오.
(1) My pencil is longer than yours.

= Your pencil is (__) than (__).
(2) Bill is thinner than Fred.
= Fred is (__) than Bill.
(3) She can speak English better than her sister.
= Her sister doesn't speak English as (__) as she.
(4) He is as old as I.
= He and I are the same (__).

(2) thin (마른), fat (살찐), (3) better의 원급은?, (4) 그와 나는 나이가 같다.

 

5. 우리말과 같은 뜻이 되도록 빈 칸에 알맞은 말을 쓰시오.
(1) 야구는 한국에서 가장 인기있는 스포츠다.

(2) 인호는 나만큼 빨리 달리지 못한다.

보충학습:

(1) 단수명사 앞에는 in, 복수명사 앞에는 of, (2) 동등비교의 부정,

(3) 부사의 최상급에서는 the.를 생략할 수 있다.
