제17장 분사구문
  

분사를 이용하여 (접속어 + 주어 + 동사...)의 부사절을 부사구로 바꿔 쓸 수가 있는데, 

이것을 분사구문이라고 한다.
  

1. 분사구문을 만드는 법: 

부사절과 주절의 주어가 일치할 때 접속사와 주어를 생략하고 동사를 ~ing의 형태로 고친다.
As I had no money, I could not buy the book. (I = I) 
-> Having no money, I could not buy the book.
As he didn't know what to do, he asked for my help. (he = he)
-> Not knowing what to do, he asked for my help.
  

2. being 의 생략
While she was walking along the street, she met him. <- 진행형
-> (Being) Walking along the street, she met him.
As it was written in haste, the book has lots of mistakes. <- 수동태
-> (Having been) Written in haste, the book has lots of mistakes.
  

3. 독립분사구문: 부사절의 주어가 주절의 주어와 다르면 생략하지 않는다.
As it was fine yesterday, we went on a picnic. (it 는 we 같지 않다)

-> It being fine yesterday, we went on a picnic.
무인칭 독립분사구문:

독립분사구문에서 주어가 일반인(we, you, they 등)이나 가주어 it 일 때는 주어를 생략한다.
If we speak generally, Jane doesn't like children.
-> Generally speaking, Jane doesn't like children.
  

4. with가 있는 분사구문: (with + 목적어 + 분사)의 형태로 부대상황을 나타낸다.
It is a calm morning, and little wind is blowing.
-> It is a calm morning, little wind blowing. <- 독립분사구문
-> It is a calm morning, with little wind blowing. <- with + 목적어 +현재분사(능동)
She stood there, and she closed her eyes.
-> She stood there, closing her eyes. <- 분사구문
-> She stood there, with her eyes closed. <- with + 목적어 + 과거분사(수동)
